How your pension will be invested
It’s simple. You select your risk category and your pension is automatically managed for you by Vitality. Your Pension will be gradually moved into lower risk investments as you approach retirement. This is called a “Lifestyle” strategy.
If you don’t want your pension automatically de-risked as you near retirement, and you are comfortable switching between the Vitality’s portfolios yourself, you can start off by picking a single portfolio to invest in.
The Pension Consolidator does not provide personal recommendations regarding which investment package to choose.
Don’t forget, once set up you can change your package within Vitality at any time.
Lifestyle
Lifestyle strategies generally invest in 'growth assets' such as equities (shares) in the early and middle part of your working life, and progressively switch into less volatile fixed-interest investments, such as bonds and cash, as you approach retirement. This aims to safeguard the money in your pension for when you need it.
Risk is a key factor in any investment decision and it is important to strike the right balance between risk and reward as well as your time to retirement. We encourage you to take Vitality’s online Risk Attitude Profiling Questionnaire to make it easier to understand which package may be most suitable for you.

All Lifestyle packages through The Pension Consolidator are defaulted to switch into cash at your selected retirement age. You can change this at any time and it is our top tip to take advice in the run up towards retirement to fully understand the options available to you.
